Oh! Mother, Anusuya,
AMMA thou art the very earth,
Thy riches are forbearance, Thy voice pours forth the
Very pure nectar for the beings.
Thy words from the inflorescence,
Unfolding many fragrant bouquets.
Thy advent made the arid, barren earth,
Blossom, bloom and bear fruit,
Making multiple seed sprouts
Thou art dispassion embodied,
Your footsteps shall be our ideal,
Your life ways shall set
Our life’s courses in brightness.
Thou dispelled the pitch-dark ambience,
Revealed the guiding light.
Oh! AMMA thou art
The dispassion incarnate,
Forbearance, fortitude are
Thy boundless treasures
Oh! Mother ANASUYA, we bow there.
As per the ancient lore, Anasuya Devi, consort of sage Athri, is an embodiment of chastity. In her exalted stature, she could transform the divine trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Maheswara) into infant babes and care for them, as conveyed in the legend.
AMMA is named Anasuya by HER parents. Countless devotees all over the world worship AMMA as Matru Sri Anasuya Devi. AMM’S name Anasuya literally means sans envy. Though in its wider connotation, implies a state of dispassion, coupled with forbearance and fortitude. Decidedly way beyond human passions and frailties.
Besides, AMMA’S trials and tribulations in real life depicted HER endless patience and personal endurance with no reaction towards those who caused the sufferings. Even such perpetrators of wrong were accepted unconditionally, forgiven and above all blessed. HER patience parallels the earth’s silent, no reactionary endurance that can never be expressed verbally.
Nonetheless, for the close onlookers who adore and revere AMMA, the process shall be touching and disconcerting for the simple reason, that their personal stature can never ever measure up to AMMA., to accept such trying situations that AMMA was going through .
This poem is at once a reverential tribute, and an adoring expression extolling AMMA. Equally, a touching response towards AMMA’s predicament those days, which found expression in brother Raju’s song.
