Amma’s Kalyanam at Hyderabad

Matrusri Anasuya Devi was married to Sri Brahmandam Nageswara Rao, her paternal aunt’s son, on May 5, 1936. This wedding of Anasuya Devi, the Mother of All is regarded very auspicious and celebrated every year in Jillellamudi with all the gaiety and enthusiasm. For the past several years this wedding day was being celebrated in Hyderabad also, with one of the couples among the devotees volunteering to represent the bridegroom’s (nannagaru) side and another couple coming forward to represent the bride’s (Amma) side. This time Mrs & Mr. M.S. Saratchandrakumar came forward to be on the bridegroom’s side and Mrs & Mr. D.V.N. Kamaraju on the bride’s side. The venue for this function was a Marriage hall in premises of a Temple in Lalithanagar area of Hyderabad. The marriage function was celebrated with all the regular rituals of a traditional South Indian Hidu marriage. This was followed by regular Puja to Amma and a sumptuous lunch to all the participants. The gathering was quite considerable with some of them who were unable to attend the Hyma’s Idol Installation function in Jillellamudi and many who returned only about a week ago after attending this function. Thus this celebration function joins the other functions held in the past in Hyderabad in such grand manner.
