Gesture of Jillellamudi Amma Sevasamithi, Kakinada
[In connection with the Celebration Commemorating the Golden Jubilee Year of Annapurnaalayam in Jillellamudi, which concluded on 15th August, 2008 we have received the following Note from our respected brother and the Pillar of Jillellamudi Amma Seva Samithi, Kakinada regarding their contribution to this memorable event in their own humble way worthy of commendation. We regret not having been able to publish it in the last issue itself – Ed.]
“People ask what do you do here in Kakinada in Amma’s memory?”
“We feed 6 people daily (one meal) and pay Rs. 2,000/- p.m. for the same. The collections at the Sri Bala Tripura Sundari Temple on Fridays and SUNDAYS meet the demand in a month.”
“We offered an amount of Rs. 30,000/- as Permanent Fixed Deposit* to the Kakinada Anna Daana Samaajam to feed one destitute daily as long as this Great Samaajam exists on the sacred soil of Kakinada. This act was done in modest pursuance of the Historic Golden Jubilee of Annapurnaalayam in Jillellamudi.”
“Two photos of Amma adorn the walls of Annadana Samajam – a photo of Amma taken on MUKKOTI EKADASI day overlooks the dining hall and watches with satisfaction, the destitutes taking their lunch; another, the one taken on a Bhogi Day adorns the EC’s Office and blesses the staff.”
“Three big boards displaying the name ‘VISWAJANANI JILLELLAMUDI AMMA SEVASAMITHI KAINADA’ got painted in Telugu are hung there at appropriate places, to be noticed and read for ever, by people visiting the place”
“The Annadana Samajam is a hundred-year old institution and is expected to feed people for another hundred years without doubt and will continue to serve one meal everyday, in the name of Amma all the 365 days for another 100 years!!”
