NANNAGARU is deemed the anchor, the base, the prop (adharam), as declared by AMMA in the very beginning while AMMA is yet a girl. Later took his hand in the holy wedlock in the year 1936 on the 5th of May which is celebrated every year. Ever since he is viewed as the consort of AMMA, well regarded and revered as such by the countless devotee children of AMMA. AMMA too made HER obeisance to NANNAGARU on all formal occasions while being worshipped by the devotee children which continued till the 17th of February 1981.
From this historic moment and date, NANNAGARU has been consecrated in the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine ANASUYESWARAYALAM. He is deified for all times to come, the eternity as ANASUYESWARA, verily the JAGADEESWARA, reigning over the entire existence, the given order, all the living species, especially the serpent domains as perceived by the countless devotees.
What is imperceptible, rather not grasped is NANNAGARU is the refuge, fountain of grace rescuing the devotees in times of need, even without praying or seeking HIS bounteous grace which is ready and generous with least supplication and worship. This presentation is a modest attempt to focus the fact that NANNAGARU’S ever readiness and fruitful intervention in times of our need,
distress.
This has been my personal experience quite a few times. Almost till 2019, just before the onslaught of the Covid epidemic, used to travel in the night buses to Jillellamudi quite alone. In one such nocturnal journeys, the bus stopped in the night for a tea break when I got down and stood by the roadside which is dimly lit or nearly dark. I could discern, rather surmise some movement in the nearby grass and bushes, which believed to be a snake not unlikely could have been disturbed by my presence. Almost immediately brushed aside my apprehensions if any as am leaving the spot immediately by the bus to Jillellamudi a distant place. Viewing thus, ignored the related concerns.
Later, at Jillelllamudi while I was moving in the precincts of SRI NAVA NAGESWARLALAYAM, some mystic voice, prompted that I need not feel insecure and entertain any thoughts of the nocturnal species in that journey, as am being fully covered in HIS GRACE.
Quite sometime after this incident, reached the temple to offer my respects to NANNAGARU. At that moment, the temple is not yet open, and the doors are closed in the early morning hours. Seeing this reverentially placed the two flowers on either side of the entrance which I brought along. The moment this gesture is completed, HIS mystic voice prompted or as heard by me, there was an assurance that no harm shall befall me from any living species from that moment.
In the aftermath of the Covid epidemic, to AGFNO.11, that is the ground floor
of the HOUSE OF ALL, the portion beside the staircase to the first floor and VATSALYALAYAM.
After shifting here, always had a lingering haunting thought, if not an apprehension that am living with a snake in this portion. This feeling is intense and growing stronger day by day. Personally thought that I shall not be daunted by such fears, insecurities.
Despite such stance, the feeling was deeply within tense and continually lingering in my mind, much more so during the night times, before retiring to sleep. As a rational being closed all the doors properly to the main bedroom. While doing so searched all the interiors withthe focus of a torch light every night before getting to sleep.
This routine was going on for a few days could be about a month. One day, in the morning, after finishing breakfast entered the rear room behind the main bedroom. Felt something soft under the feet. Immediately looked down at my feet and shockingly noticed that trod on a coiled, black, dark snake. Shouted for help.
Persons rushed in quickly to trace and remove the crawling creature. Immediately nothing could be seen. I was intrigued and wondering as to how it vanished suddenly and where could it go. Babu Rao one of the persons who rushed in pointed to the wall beside the entrance in the rear. He said he could see the tail while it was entering the crevice in the solid wall which itself is odd and unbelievable, snake getting into a wall.
Then the mason and others have come to open the wall and started the same. Then it was observed that the creature retreated into shallow of the entrance as the structure is time worn and hollow spaces emanating from within the borders and undersides of the entrance. To flush it out of these hollow spaces, vibrator was brought and applied noise and tremors of which exposed the same and was eliminated while it retreated into the cavity in the wall beside the entrance from where it was flushed out. All this gruesome process took a few hours, causing much unpleasantness and annoyance.
At that point thought that narrowly escaped the venomous bite and felt awfully relieved, so did the others who watched this macabre process and even heard the same from others who came and got concerned over me. Almost forgot this episode brushing out the same from my mind as needless.
A few months later after the incident, had some skin problems which I was deducing and imputing to some other reasons bordering the spiritual. SwamyOmkarananda who heard the same opined that the cause is different though could not specify the same.
I was brooding and speculating on the plausible cause of this skin problem. A little concerned though. While this process is going on, NANNAGARU one morning while was washing my face, caused a bright vision. In this vision, he conveyed that I was subject to his immense, bounteous grace could see in clarity that NANNAGARU pored some nectarine (amritha, amrithathva) input that entered my head (the sahasrara) and seeped down through out the body till the toes and heels of the feet while the snake bit me on the left foot in that forgotten episode. Which was ignored by me hardly conscious or aware of the same.
This vision clearly revealed to me in detail that the snake bit me on the foot while NANNAGARU countered the same with HIS mystique, nectarine input to work against the venom that could have been quite harmful but for his very generous intervention. Another fact is that NANNAGARU covered, protected me in the incident, which made me oblivious of its bite I was subject to. Which made it dueless and believe that I passed through unaffected.
This is the singular instance of NANNAGARU’S gracious intervention even without my knowledge which was generously conveyed by his abundant, bounteous, boundless love for my understanding of the happening in its depth and comfort in the consequence Also, NANNAGARU conveyed his abundant grace and his timely intervention.
Furthermore, this is also quite in consonance with the merciful, compassionate, unconditional boon, assurance bestowed on me at the entrance of his sanctum of SRI NAVA NAGA NAGESWARALAYAM earlier quite some time ago as cited afore.
While this singular unique instance could be conveyed to the readers, the devotee children of AMMA, it is a confirming pointer of NANNAGARU’S love and compassion that is generous intervention in our lives mercifully wherever needed even without our plea or devotional prayer.
It behoves all of us to seek HIS bounteous grace and boundless generosity on us, the countless devotee children of AMMA and NANNAGARU which is the crux of this presentation in all humility and abject submission, surrender. NANNAGARU is truly the ‘Bhaktha Sulabha verily prone towards us and inclined to intervene graciously where needed.
