- Bhakti, Jnana, Yoga-the one does not exist apart from the other
- Both loving and hating are for the sake of one’s self only.

- Ramanuja saw his God; Sankara saw the god in himself.
- Even when the stream is flowing full (of fresh water) steps are needed to reach it.
- Criticism of the Self is Viveka, Criticising others is Aviveka. (Folly)
- What is expected does not happen: what one has in store can never be avoided.
- The combination of the five elements is Gayathri
- Contentment is the feeling that there is no higher state than that.
- If one pain is to be resolved, another must take its place
- Insight is cognizing Existence as it really is; 5 the Real appearing as the unreal is Illusion.
- Planets cannot affect one who has self-control. Idol worship is an aid to self-control
